Ep.1.13 Surprise

Bill and Iris wake up to the worst garbage strike in the city’s history. Talk of privatization fills the airwaves. Crumb corners Bill and threatens to expose his daughter’s arrest record unless he agrees to help him. Bill is painted into a corner, confusing Iris, who doesn’t know whose side he’s on. Things go from bad to worse and eventually her staff abandons her, each for their own reason. Maxine gets a new job offer, Scott is germphobic and stays home during the garbage strike, Trevor is needed at the understaffed community center, Mr. Lee won’t cross any picket lines and Stanley profits by operating a private garbage pick-up service. The dumping ground is Iris’s beautiful community garden. Iris does manage to end the strike and return the city to normal but the cost is high and by the end she is all alone, telling Bill she can’t trust him. Then just when she thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse, her ex-husband Gerard shows up.
